About Us
Jacklyn Dawson Solicitors Newport, Gwent. Jacklyn Dawson Hurley Solicitors Monmouth, Monmouthshire
Jacklyn Dawson are a long established Newport firm. We can trace our roots back to the firms of Liscombe & Dawson and H. Meyrick Williams, who practised in the Newport area in the earlier part of the last century. In 1963 both firms merged to form the firm of Jacklyn Dawson & Meyrick Williams. At around the same time this new practice moved to its current offices at Equity Chambers in the centre of Newport.
In the year 2000 we incorporated the practice of Richard Davies & Co formerly of Caerleon Road Newport, with Richard himself joining us as a Consultant. In 2002 the practice of Llewellin & Co was incorporated into our firm with Nigel Williams, the Diocesan Registrar, joining us as a Consultant. Llewellin & Co. themselves are a long established Newport firm and are the successors to the practices of Waddington Llewellin & Burge and Davis Lloyds and Lyndon Moore. Julie James formerly a partner with Derek James & Vaux in Newport joined us in November 2003.
In October 2004 we merged with long established and respected Monmouth solicitors Kenneth Hurley & Co. The move brought together two practices with long histories in the provision of legal services in Monmouth and the surrounding county. The practice in Monmouth is named Jacklyn Dawson Hurley and continues to operate from offices at 6, Priory Street, Monmouth.
The firm currently has eight partners. We have fourteen solicitors and approximately twenty support staff. We are therefore large enough to be able to provide specialisation in a wide range of legal matters without being so big that we lose sight of the need to provide a friendly and personal service to our private and business clients alike.
