Jonathan Hine  Solicitor & Partner

Jonathan qualified in 1991, completing his training with Hallinan Blackburn Gittings in Cardiff before moving to Newport in 1997. He has practiced continuously in Newport since then. He became a Partner in the firm in 2011.

Throughout a career spanning 27 years Jonathan has been a litigation lawyer, specialising in personal injury claims, employment law, commercial and private disputes and debt recovery of all kinds. He was also previously both a Court and Police Station Duty Solicitor for over 20 years.

He has represented both employers and employees with great success before the Employment Tribunals for in excess of 25 years, offering a complete service to clients including conducting his own advocacy in the Tribunal.

He has considerable experience for in excess of 27 years in acting for Claimants and Defendants alike in all manner of civil disputes, from injury claims to commercial contract disputes, debt recovery to building and property disputes, landlord and tenant disputes to consumer law disputes. In his career to date Jonathan has helped thousands of businesses and individuals.

Until 2018, Jonathan was also President of the Confederation of South Wales Law Societies

 

Catherine Gwilliam Solicitor & Partner

Catherine is a member of the Dispute Resolution team and has nearly 30 years experience dealing with a wide range of areas including Landlord & Tenant, Commercial Disputes, Neighbour Disputes and Debt Recovery.

After graduating from University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, and the College of Law, Chester, she undertook her training at a practice in Swansea prior to joining the firm in 1989.

 

 

 

 

David Coles   Consultant

David studied law at Cardiff University from 1980-1983 and at Chester law College. He qualified as a solicitor in Newport 1986 and has remained working in Cardiff and Newport ever since  undertaking both contentious and non contentious work , specialising initially in Criminal and Civil litigation but more recently also specialising in Financial services litigation where he was amongst a number of specialist solicitors who assisted clients in the recent mis-sale of interest rate hedging products sold by banks in which he has recovered  sums between  £50,000 - £2,000000  for clients . He has also acted for a number of financial advisors. 

David is  accredited as a member of the Law Society Criminal Law panel . He  has 30 years advocacy experience which includes acting for clients on motoring offences. He has always advised on employment law and general litigation including debt recovery.
